Locked Out of Windows System
If you got “locked" out of the system on Windows, do not worry! There is an easy way to reset the password for your Windows user account.
Forgot Windows password and now cannot access the system? Do not be annoyed, it can happen to anyone. Even if you have not created a password recovery disk, you can follow the steps to reset your password. This tip was tested on Windows 8. Of course, it works on Windows 7 and other Windows system.
How to Reset Windows 8 Forgotten Password?
If you happen to forget or lose your windows administrator password, please follow the below steps to reset a new one.
1) Start the PC using a Windows installation disc. What came with your computer should serve. Wait for the installer to load, select a language for the installation and click “Next”.
2) Click Repair your computer, select the OS to repair and note the drive letter where the system is installed. Click “Next”. In the list of recovery tools, click “Command Prompt”.
In the next steps we refer to the drive with the operating system as the C: drive. If your PC system is on another drive, replace C: in the following commands for the appropriate drive lette .
3) In the command prompt type: copy C: \ windows \ system32 \ sethc.exe C: \ and press “Enter”
4) Now type copy / yc: \ windows \ system32 \ cmd.exe C: \ windows \ system32 \ sethc.exe and press Enter
5) Exit the Command Prompt window (type exit and press Enter) and restart the PC. On the login screen, press Shift five times in succession. This will cause a command prompt appears on the screen.
Once you get access to a prompt, just a command to change the password
6) At the prompt type the command net user username password, replacing username with your username and password in Windows with the new password you wish to set, and press Enter. If you do not remember your username, just type net user (followed by Enter) to see a list of all system users.
7) Exit the Command Prompt and login with the new password. Problem solved!
Now you need to undo previous changes to prevent anyone explore the same trick and change your password. Repeat steps 1 and 2 above, and in Command Prompt, type copy / yc : \ sethc.exe c : \ windows \ system32 \ sethc.exe and press Enter. Exit the command prompt and restart the computer.
